Is Information Governance Software Really File Analysis Software?

 

The answer is “No”, but according to the “Information Governance Initiative’s 2014 annual report, its definition of Information Governance (IG),  “is the activities or processes and technologies that organizations employ to maximize the value of their information while minimizing associated risks and costs”. Thus reducing cost and risk for the organization.

According to Gartner, File analysis tools, “will analyze, index search, track and report on file meta data and file content,” It will help organizations by providing them with information so that they can make decisions on what to do with the data once the File Analysis software has analysed it.

Information Governance software tools encompass a number of different areas and offer a wider variety of features, whereas, Files Analysis tools only address the analysis portion of the Information Governance puzzle.
